Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast, and is the only person to be recognized with 10/10 scores in an Olympic performance. Bela Karrolyi was a Romanian gymnastics teacher who later became the coach for Comaneci who first came across Comaneci when she was just six years old. The year 1969 was the first time she took part in the Romanian Junior Games and placed 13th. She won in 1970. Her first competition in the international arena was in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior competition for communist-bloc nations she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974, she was an all-around junior champion. When she competed for the first time as a senior in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion winning four gold and one silver medal. She was the first female to ever successfully complete the backwards double salto after dismounting from an unbalanced parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She began her career in the entertainment industry as a teenager performing as a figure skating duo with her sister Nina Wayne for the travelling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol began her journey into the world of entertainment in her teens. Her first professional gig was figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment shows Ice Capades. They featured dramatic skating on ice shows.
